I'm Cody, the handsome one around here. I'm a
little different than the other furkids.
For one thing, my coat colour is a striking grey and black and
white -
they call me a blue merle. Almost everyone else around
here has red or gold in their hair - Sadie and Maxie are both
red/gold, then there's the orange cat Jazz, even Jesse, the new
cat has red highlights. And my mom's
hair is red, although (don't tell her I told you) her shades of
red tend to change every time she goes in for grooming.
Dad's hair is grey like mine, so at least I'm not the only one -
except I've been grey since birth, but dad, on the other hand,
well, let's just say, his hair hasn't always been that color.
I am the oldest of all the
furkids here now, though it wasn't always that way. At one
time, it seems not so long ago, I was the youngest. The
good old days when I hung out with my buddies - Uncle TJay, Aunt Keena, my cousin Tiger, even my cousin Whisper
whenever she visited. But they're all at a place mom calls
the Rainbow Bridge now. I hope they're having fun. I
miss them so much sometimes.
Being the
oldest has it responsibilities. I am
so much more mature than the others, and I try to take my
responsibilities seriously. Kids these days, Sadie and
Max, they just don't appreciate my years of
experience, and it's so hard to keep them in check sometimes.
They don't listen and can drive me nuts! Thankfully, they ignore me for the most part. I don't
really like to play with them anyway, because, well,
they're girls, and I'm getting older, and they tend to play rougher than I like.
But I still like to
chase ball and play
with all the other toys mom has for us. My favourite is
chasing a big beach ball around the yard. Check out the
pictures my mom took!
Summer is my favourite time of year as I
don't like snow when it's too deep and I hate pooping in the
cold.
I love
to run along
the fence and bark at the neighbours, but mom doesn't always let
me do that whenever I want. I don't like car rides but
sometimes they still make me go, though I'd much prefer to just
stay at home.
Mom says I'm a retired show dog - a
Canadian Champion - I even won first in my open dog class at the
Canadian National Sheltie Specialty Show quite a few years ago,
when I was much younger, when my ears were tipped
much more than
they are now that I'm old. Who says a Sheltie can't have
German Shepherd ears?
If retirement means lounging on
the couch all day, keeping the youngsters in check every now and
then, playing ball, and sleeping and eating, then I'm all for
it!
Love
Cody

Cody's Favourite Saying
Some dogs
feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the
car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at
nothing right in your ear
