My little dog, a heartbeat at my feet... Edith Wharton

Hi, I'm Maxie.  I was born in Ontario but moved to Winnipeg when I was just eight weeks old.  My nickname is Munchkin Max (just call me Munch) and I just turned three years old!  My mom says I am the sweetest girl in the whole wide world, but then, she also calls me her wild child because she says I am uncontrollable at times, and am always looking for something to do to get myself in trouble - though most people don't see that side of me cause I tend to be quite shy around others sometimes.

I love to bark, especially when playing or hanging out at the front window, or when it's dinner time, or, just about anytime I guess!  I try to listen when mom tells me to stop, I really do, but I just get so excited about things.  I just can't seem to control myself and I have so much to say!  And my mom thinks it is pretty cool that I can jump straight up in the air with all four feet off the ground at once!

My big sister, Sadie, is the greatest!  I love playing and running with her in the yard.  She can go so fast, and I can almost keep up, but she nearly always beats me to the ball.  She tends to get a bit possessive about it though.  I like to grab hold of her tail when we're running.  It's amazing how much faster I can run this way, though for some reason that upsets my mom sometimes too, if I'm getting a little "carried away".  Okay, its that excitement thing again!

Oh..., and you should see me "stalking".  Talk about a natural!  My favourite thing to stalk?  Why, Sadie, of course!  We make that eye contact, she freezes, I circle, she charges, I pounce.  It's great!    I like to stalk Cody too, but he gets pretty grumpy about it.  Not a barrel of laughs there, I tell ya.  Mom keeps talking about throwing me in with some sheep to see what I do.  Sounds like fun.  Except, what are sheep?

On October 07, 2008 I gave birth to a litter of 6 of the most amazing puppies in the world!  There were  2 gorgeous girls and 4 beautiful boys... all born safe, sound, healthy and strong, starting with the first, a little boy arriving at 2:15 p.m., and the last, a little girl, delivered a few hours later at 5:40 p.m.

My mom keeps telling me how proud she is of me!  She says I am the best mom in the world!  Though I think it was tougher on her than it was on me... all that waiting around for my temperature to drop so she would know when the time was near... checking me, watching me, treating me with kid gloves.  It was almost too much!  But then, I certainly didn't mind being spoiled those last few days and getting my tummy rubbed more than usual!

When the time came though, I was a bit scared.  So was my mom! But her friend Marilyn was here to help, and she was amazing...so calm, cool, and collected.  So a very special and heartfelt thank you to Marilyn for helping me and my mom, and to Dr. Stewart-Hay for all my pre-natal care.

Here is a photo of me with my daughter Summer...

The puppies were so beautiful, and I loved having them around! Even better, my mom kept two of them ... Sam and Sienna.  I can teach them to play and bark and stalk, and how to behave around the cat, especially that orange one, wink, wink.  Okay, so I have issues with the cat which mom says we are working on.  If they would just stop feeding him, I'm sure things will be fine.

Hey Look!  There are some leaves falling from a tree!  Gotta go bark at them.  Did I mention that my mom thinks I bark to much?

Love Maxie.
